South Island Orca, Original Oil Painting

In this above-below painting a family of New Zealand Orca is teaching their juvenile Orca how to hunt for stingrays.

The stingrays are trying to escape into the kelp forest which is a typical South Island marine environment.
Above water, its summertime, a grassy hillside, red Rata flowers, a vine that grows on trees is framed by a beautiful sunny blue sky.

I created this collection of paintings of the New Zealand Orca to benefit the Orca Research Trust.
