Cafe Bellissimo

Inspired by walking around Rome and finding one visual treasure after another, this painting depicts a busy street-side cafe with people enjoying a late afternoon lunch and drinks.  Cats are sitting near the cafe hoping for a treat and people are walking into the bright sunlight.  When we were in Rome, we would often walk down a dark street in the shadow of ancient buildings and then we would turn a corner and there would be a beautiful cafe or shop or work of art.  It was all so lovely.  
Painted with thick, impasto strokes of oil paint, this is a contemporary impressionist style artwork.
